Disabled Toilet Suites
Here at Bathroom Supastore we are aware that some of us have more difficulty than most when it comes to accessing toilet facilities – such as those with mobility problems and elderly individuals. It’s for this very reason that we stock a range of Disabled Toilet Suites. Aimed at making life more comfortable for those who don’t have a full range of movement, all our suites comply with the national Building Regulations Document M Pack (ie they are LABC certified) and can be used in both domestic and commercial environments.
The Doc M packs are primarily used within the healthcare sector – in nursing homes, hospitals and for disabled access provision in restaurants and a wide range of retailers etc. Happily, the affordability of these facilities means they are also increasingly being used in the home.
What does a disabled toilet suite consist of?
The Doc M kits usually comprise of a close coupled toilet, wash basin, grab rails (in both white and blue) and other accessories normally found in a disabled toilet and wash room. In terms of the toilet bowl itself, this varies from standard toilets in the sense that the toilet bowl is often much higher (around 460mm) in order to make access easier. Wash basins are correspondingly lower so that they can be easily accessed by wheelchair users.
Mono basin mixer taps are often another feature of Disabled Toilets Suites and are also easier to use since, coming with a lever, they are far easier for those with limited strength to use than having to master individual hot and cold screw taps.
Some disabled toilet packs also included back rest pillows just above the toilet. Other facilities in a disabled toilet and bathroom include low level shower trays (again to assist those with physical difficulties to enter and leave the shower area in a more relaxed manner, and half height doors (which are easier to both open and close).
