Bi-fold Shower Enclosures
Perfect for smaller bathrooms and those which don’t have a lot of room centrally, the bi-fold shower enclosure demands hardly any space on opening and closing. That’s because it quite simply folds into itself inside the shower area, rather than projecting into the room (such as a hinged or pivot shower door would). In this way then it is perfectly possible to install a shower in an en-suite – a task which might otherwise have seemed impossible.
What does a bi-fold shower enclosure involve?
This type of shower enclosure usually consists of two or more glass panels. One of the panels will be fixed to the shower itself while the other panel/s fold in on hinges. This type of shower works well with rectangular showers and larger showers where the bi-fold door is used alongside inline panels.
The doors can be fitted to a shower enclosure or even across an alcove in the bathroom. They’re also reversible in that they can be built to open either from the left or the right, depending on what suits your bathroom layout best.
Is a bi-fold shower enclosure water-tight?
You’ll find that most bi-fold shower doors these days come with magnetic shower door seals affixed to the glass panels. This tends to result in a perfect sealing, ensuring no water will leak out onto your bathroom floor. It’s also possible these days to find soft closing seals in order to minimise wear and tear to your bi-fold door.
